PhD Candidate, BEE
Sarah completed her undergraduate degrees in Biological Engineering and Plant Science at Cornell. She joins the Soil & Water Lab after several internship and co-op positions in agriculture and biotechnology. Sarah enjoys running and biking the Ithaca hills, and is excited to be starting as an after-school reading buddy for elementary students in Ithaca.
Sarah is interested in the contributions of soil microbes to landscape-scale nutrient cycling. She seeks to answer questions relating to long-term physical controls on soil microbial community composition. Sarah is particularly interested in the potential for communities of denitrifying soil bacteria to mitigate excess nitrogen inputs in agricultural soils.
