Jain Nieraj, BE'03, is a 2003 Merrill Presidential Scholar.  From the Merrill Scholar Convocation Handbook: "Nieraj is an exceptionally outstanding and talented student. His understanding of complex problems is deep and his approach to solving them is very methodical. He has published two papers in the area of biomedical engineering, one in Applied Optics and the other in Optics Letters. His leadership qualities and services include: philanthropy chair and co-founder of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity where he managed business development, did volunteer service in a hospital, and coordinated a blood drive".
